ADV Announces July 11 Releases
HOUSTON, May 16, 2006 —ADV Films, the number one producer-distributor of anime in North America, is pleased to announce four exciting new titles set to hit the streets on July 11 – the sixth volume of Godannar, volume four of Macross, volume two of Michel, and the third and final edition of The Fuccons!
GODANNAR: DEEP PENETRATION
“A Must-See Title” – Anime News Network
ADV Films is pleased to announce that the sixth volume in the smash hit mecha series, Godannar: Deep Penetration, is set to hit store shelves everywhere July 11. “The combination of frantic action, manic humor and delicious fanservice is near perfection” (Anime On DVD).
Godannar is a genre-bending mecha anime series best described as equal parts action, adventure, and domestic soap opera. While much of anime is populated by high school vixens, magical fairies, and femme fatales, it's rare to find a married couple at the center of the story. And that's just one of the reasons Godannar stands out. That, and a female giant robot that jiggles. And a fantastic opening theme song.
Five years ago, as the Mimetic Beasts laid waste to Japan, Dannar Pilot Go saved young Anna Aoi's life. As they prepare to march down the aisle, a new Beast appears and Go is summoned into battle once more. But he's not going alone, not if his blushing bride-to-be can help it! If they can mate their robots' interlocking parts, they'll form the ultimate marriage of man, woman, and machine!
Synopsis: As the Insania contagion rips through their ranks, the staggered Dannar team struggles to recover. With more pilots grounded, and the Mimetic Beasts attacking in ever greater numbers, simply keeping the robots flying becomes a Herculean task… except that Hercules never had curves like this! Meanwhile Lou finds herself grappling with Ken's true plans for her. Is this her mission of revenge… or his? The biggest surprises yet are about to be unveiled in the sixth shocking volume of Godannar!
Godannar: Deep Penetration (SRP $29.98 DVD) is an anamorphic release including episodes 21-23, presented in both English 5.1 and Japanese 2.0 with English subtitles. Video extras include the Season 1 on-air open and close, a collection of all the original Japanese Godannar television commercials, and production sketches, plus clean opening animation, clean closing animation, and previews of upcoming ADV Films releases.
Limited Collectors Edition Still Available!
The Godannar Collectors Box is still available in limited quantities. This special collectors edition contains the first volume of Godannar in a stunning custom series art box with full color artwork sized to hold the entire seven volume series (SRP $39.98).

MACROSS: FALLEN ANGELS
“One of the Best Series of All Time.” – Anime Frontier
ADV is proud to announce a July 11 street date for Macross: Fallen Angels, the fourth of seven DVDs re-presenting the classic series in its entirety – and for the first time ever with an English dub! This deluxe package, featuring digitally-restored video and a brand-new 5.1 soundtrack, includes so many episodes, interviews, commentaries, and other extras that it's become a must-have for every anime fan! “Macross has never looked or sounded this good! This is the edition to own my friends!” (Japan Hero)
For many Americans, Robotech was their first exposure to anime. That classic series, which was first aired on American TV in 1985, is a sprawling epic that showcases the complex storylines, morally ambiguous characters, and sheer spectacle that are hallmarks of anime. Before Robotech, however, there was Macross – one of three Japanese Anime series that were spliced together with a whole new script for an American audience. The original Macross has only been available to American fans in Japanese language only with subtitles.
Now at long last ADV Films is making Macross available to a new generation of American anime fans in a deluxe package featuring the uncut digitally restored video and for the first time ever, a faithful English dub in rich 5.1 surround sound.
This watershed release is made all the more special with the inclusion of Mari Iijima, who is reprising her role as the Lynn Minmay, one of the central characters in the Macross saga. This is one of the few times a voice actor from the original Japanese cast has participated in the English dub – and by far the most important. Ms. Iijima is a professional singer-songwriter with numerous top 10 albums in Japan and has only appeared as a voice actress in limited fashion, with her only anime role being Lynn Minmay.
Synopsis: Betrayed by the military of their own planet, the crew of the Macross find themselves trapped on the Earth, unable to evacuate their civilian passengers even as the Zentradi attacks continue to rain down from the skies. In the air, a new rivalry begins as enemy ace pilot Millia finds her ultimate opponent in the person of Max Jenius, while on the ground Misa is consumed by guilt after an accident that sends a critically wounded Hikaru to the infirmary. And even as the young lieutenant struggles for his own life, the battle takes a grimmer toll as his teammates and friends begin to die in his place. The war of attrition continues in the fourth staggering volume of Macross!
Macross: Fallen Angels (SRP $29.98 DVD) is a DVD-only release including episodes 17-21, presented in both English 5.1 and Japanese 2.0 with English subtitles. Extras include Part 2 of “On Stage With Mari Iijima” and extensive liner notes, plus clean opening animation, clean closing animation, and previews of upcoming ADV Films releases.

THE FUCCONS: FUCCON! FUCCON! FUCCON!
“A Cult Hit!”—IMDB.com
ADV Films is proud to present the third and final full-length DVD of Japan's #1 dysfunctional mannequin family comedy series. The Fuccons: Fuccon! Fuccon! Fuccon! will be available in finer home media retail outlets everywhere June 27.
The Fuccons is nothing short of a full-blown pop culture phenomenon in Japan, where it's not only taken over TV but inspired scads of licensed products – and even its own themed restaurants! The series has already been licensed to a number of markets in Asia and Europe. Now it's America's turn!
The allure of The Fuccons is hard to describe. It's a series of short films about an American family that's been transplanted to Japan. The fact that mom, dad, and son are 50's-era mannequins only begins to describe The Fuccons' overall weirdness. “It's like what Leave It To Beaver must look like to guys who drop a whole lot of acid before they watch it” (Film Threat). The Fuccons is something you have to see to believe, but you can start getting the flavor of the show right now at the site www.fuccons.com, or by checking out the special low-priced introductory disc Meet the Fuccons (SRP $5.98), on sale now.
The Fuccons originally began as a segment on the Japanese variety show Vermillion Pleasure Night (also available from ADV Films), where it became such a hit that it was spun off into its own TV program (known there as “Oh Mikey!”). At about three minutes an episode, it runs as an interstitial or “bumper” between other programs. The short program has since become one of the biggest phenomena on Japanese TV!
Synopsis: Things haven't gotten any better for poor Mikey the manequin. He's still stuck living in Japan, his dad's still mentally absent, his mom's considering a divorce, and his cousin Laura is still out to make his life a living hell. But wait, things are about to get even stranger in the already bizarre alternate reality that Mikey inhabits. Prepare to meet the Blueberry King, Princess Isabella and, horror of horrors, the twisted Twins' mothers! The incredibly strange Japanese hit that's become an American comedy sensation continues in the third volume of The Fuccons!
The Fuccons: Fuccon! Fuccon! Fuccon! (SRP $19.98 DVD) is a DVD-only release including 17 episodes presented in both English and Japanese with English subtitles.
