Unwound to Premiere on Japan-A-Radio
‘UNWOUND’ TO PREMIERE ON JAPAN-A-RADIO
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (June 18, 2004) – San Francisco-based productions company, Project 760 Productions has announced the premiere of its latest production, Unwound, on June 26, 2004 at 7:30pm Pacific Time. The premiere and the run of the series will be available exclusively on the Internet Japanese music radio station, Japan-A-Radio.
Unwound will take a look at the weekly progress of Japanese Animation, also known as anime, available in digital and subtitled format on the Internet. The series will present a fan perspective on the artform by reviewing series that have been subtitled by fan-based subtitling groups. The 30 minute program will include scripted reviews and professional reports, as well as unscripted responses and editorial commentary. The opinions presented on the show hopes to provide listeners with distinctly different perspectives.
To write those opinions and present them on the air, producer Ray Nagar has tapped Jesse Barredo and Michael Garcia to perform as hosts for the program. Barredo is the current interim president of the San Francisco State University club, AnimeFX, as well as the current video programming director for the Second Annual JapanTown Anime Faire. As the former host of an all-night Japanese music program on two Internet radio stations, Garcia is no stranger to the world of Internet media. “Oh no!” exclaimed Garcia, with a jovial tone, “I'm forced to watch anime on a regular basis!” He went on to say, “All kidding aside, Jesse and I wanted to express our fandom without having to abandon it in order to form an opinion. We want to debunk the myth that all reviewers have to put on an air of objectivity when reviewing anime.”
When asked about the show's exclusive broadcast on MIS Productions' Japan-A-Radio, Garcia replied, “Where else would we going to broadcast? There's only one place that this show can call home, and that's the Japan-A-Radio network.” Japan-A-Radio's programming director, Shon Elliott, said, “We're glad to have Unwound on Japan-A-Radio. We have the largest listener base for the J-pop and anime music scene. Unwound is just part of that dedication to bringing you the best entertainment that you expect from us.”
