On Monday February 10, MVM will release the first 26-part season of Baki on Blu-ray. The volume is described on Anime-on-Line.
"In the deadly underground world of no-holds-barred fighting, one name reigns supreme: Yujiro Hanma, aka "The Ogre," a legendary martial artist whose incredible strength, skill, and savage ferocity are so terrifying that even great nations fear him. Still, no man can stand at any pinnacle forever, and the Ogre's son, Baki, has trained his entire young life in order to achieve his dream of rising to the top."
The anime featured the "Most Evil Death Row Convicts" arc from the manga, which features underground ring fighters in the no-rules combat environment of death row convicts.
Toshiki Hirano (Rayearth, Dangaioh, Magic Kaito: Kid the Phantom Thief) directed the anime at TMS Entertainment (Lupin III, ReLIFE). Fujio Suzuki (Shin Getter Robo vs. Neo Getter Robo, 009-1, New Getter Robo) designed the characters. Tatsuhiko Urahata (DNA², Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere, Tsuredure Children) was in charge of series composition.
Baki is the second installment in Itagaki's overall series. The manga ran for 31 volumes in Weekly Shōnen Champion from 1999 to 2005.
MVM will also release a Blu-ray of the second TV season of Made in Abyss, with the full name Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun. Anime-on-Line describes it as follows:
"No one has ventured into the sixth layer of the Abyss and remained unchanged. Even with the possession of a White Whistle, an ominous specter hovers above Riko, Reg and Nanachi as they advance down to the sixth layer, the Capital of the Unreturned. The pathways are more treacherous, the environment harsher, and the creatures even more dangerous, but the most unsettling thing of all is the ruins of the Golden City."
Crunchyroll will release the first season of The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic on Blu-ray, carrying 13 episodes.
The "slapstick isekai fantasy with gags and battles" begins when ordinary high school student Usato happens to bump into student council president Suzune and classmate Kazuki on his way home. All three are suddenly swallowed up by a magic circle and transported to another world. The trio are summoned as heroes to save a kingdom from a demon king's army — but, only Suzune and Kazuki have what it takes to be heroes. Usato just happened to be dragged along for the ride. However, things turn around when Usato is discovered to have the rare knowledge of a healing mage. He is abducted by a woman who identifies herself as Rose, the leader of the life-saving corps, and drafted into her ranks.
Takahide Ogata (Kaiketsu Zorori: Lalala♪ Star Tanjō, Motto! Majime ni Fumajime Kaiketsu Zorori) directed the anime at Studio Add and Shinei Animation. Shogo Yasukawa (Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma, Quality Assurance in Another World) was in charge of series scripts, and Kenji Tanabe (BLUELOCK) designed the characters. Elements Garden (Hitoshi Fujima, Seima Kondō) composed the music.
Kurokata launched the light novel series on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in March 2014. MF Books imprint published the first volume of the novel with illustrations by KeG in March 2016, and the 12th and final volume in March 2020.
Crunchyroll will release Horimiya: The Missing Pieces Season 2 on both Blu-ray and DVD. The volume is described on Anime-on-Line:
"At graduation, the cherry blossoms fall while a nostalgic Hori looks back on her time at Katagiri High School and with Miyamura. Every moment together is precious, even the details that are easy to forget. This is their story, finally complete."
