Ramayana Anime Film's 4K Remaster Crosses ₹2.8 Crore in Revenue

The news outlet reported on January 23 that licensor Tem Co. confirmed in an email to fans the film will not screen with the original 1997 Hindi and Tamil dubs as the master data of the audio are lost. The new dubs in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi are based on the on the 1993 English version of the anime film.
The remastered film opened in theaters across India on Friday. It was originally going to release in theaters across India on October 18. Geek Pictures' Instagram account had stated that the licensors delayed the film in order to make it “accessible in a significantly greater number of cinemas.”

In Ayodhya, the royal palace of Kosala kingdom in ancient India, four princes were born to three queens, each of whom grew to great stature. After being banished from the palace for fourteen years due to court intrigue, Prince Rama retreated to the forest with his beautiful wife Sita. Then, Rama, who had vanquished the demons of the forest, invites the wrath of the demon king Ravana, and his wife Sita is kidnapped. Rama goes to rescue Sita with the help of the monkey army. But while fighting the powerful Ravana army, his brother Lakshmana is seriously wounded. At this time, Hanuman, the general of the monkey army, flew to the Himalayas and carried a mountain of medicinal herbs that healed his wounds, saving his life. Eventually, Rama's army defeated Ravana's army using the "Heavenly Weapons" and returned to Ayodhya in triumph.
The remastered version of the film launched in 2022, which is the 70th anniversary year of India-Japan diplomatic relations. Japan Habba screened it in March 2022 and The Embassy of India in Tokyo hosted a special screening for it in February 2022.
The anime film premiered in 1992, the 40th anniversary year of India-Japan diplomatic relations. Cartoon Network aired the film on Indian television in subsequent years.
Yugo Sako directed and co-produced the film at Nippon Ramayana Film Co. Vanraj Bhatia composed the music. Moriyasu Taniguchi designed the characters for the film. Satoshi Matsuoka was the art director and Kazuyuki Kobayashi was the animation director.
