Philippine Dubbing Director Danny Mandia Dies at 70

Mandia, who was affectionately called "Ama" by his protégés, students, and younger friends, originated from theatrical arts, which he finished with a master's degree in the University of the Philippines. However, he is best known for his dubbing direction work for foreign shows on the ABS-CBN channel, as well as its HERO TV anime channel. Throughout his more than two decades of work, he directed Filipino dubs for numerous shows, including Magic Knight Rayearth, Voltes V (2006 HERO TV dub), B't X, Futari wa Pretty Cure, Zenki, A Dog of Flanders, My Patrasche, Digimon Adventure, Anne of Green Gables, Remi: Nobody's Girl, Heidi - A Girl of the Alps, The Flying House, Si Mary at ang lihim sa hardin, Ragnarok The Animation, Starship Operators, The Familiar of Zero, Negima!, Log Horizon, and Lil' Red Riding Hood Cha-Cha, among many others.
His most famous non-anime dubbing director work was Meteor Garden, the Chinese live-action series adaptation of Yōko Kamio's Boys Over Flowers manga. The show became a hit in the Philippines, and became iconic for an entire generation of viewers.
Mandia also voiced minor characters in some Filipino dubs, including Eureka Seven, Code Geass, Futari wa Pretty Cure, Boys Over Flowers, Ceres, Celestial Legend, Zenki, Gintama, Paprika, and Vandread.
