Singapore's mm2 Entertainment to Screen 21 Ghibli Films in 7 S.E. Asian Territories

mm2 Entertainment will screen the films in Singapore and Malaysia directly through its parent company mm2 Asia, but will work with local partner companies in other territories.
Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki's latest feature film The Boy and the Heron (Kimi-tachi wa Dō Ikiru ka) opened in Japan in July 2023, and sold 1.003 million tickets and earned about US$13.2 million in its first three days in Japan. It is the #56th highest-grossing film ever in Japan (as of October 4), and was the third highest-grossing domestic film in Japan in 2023. The film has earned 9.4 billion yen (about US$64.3 million) in Japan. The film ranked at #1 in its opening weekend in the U.S. box office, with an earning of US$12,836,313 in its first three days.
The film won Best Animated Feature Film in the 96th Academy Awards ceremony on March 10. The 77th Cannes International Film Festival awarded Studio Ghibli with the Honorary Palme d'Or in April earlier this year.
Netflix is streaming 21 Studio Ghibli films worldwide except for the United States, Canada, and Japan.
