The official Twitter account for Otakon revealed on Monday that this year's convention will host longtime industry veteran and insider Yoshihiro Watanabe.
Watanabe has worked at both Madhouse and P.A. Works - some of his credits include The Eccentric Family 2, and the "A New Journey" commercial for the League of Legends game. He is currently working with the CG animation Studio Orange on the upcoming BEASTARS anime.
Otakon will be held at Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. from July 26 to 28. The event will host rock band BRADIO as musical guests; former Studio Ghibli staff member Hirokatsu Kihara; composer Kaoru Wada; hip-hop artist Shing02; singers Diana Garnet and Nano; voice actresses Kikuko Inoue, Sayuri Hara, and Manaka Iwami; voice actors Tōru Furuya, Makoto Furukawa, Nobunaga Shimazaki, and Chikahiro Kobayashi; producers Masao Maruyama, Michihiko Suwa, and Shōichi Hotta; directors Hiroshi Nagahama and Yoshiaki Kyougoku; and animators Atsushi Nakayama, Ryōma Ebata, and Naoki Yoshibe.
The convention will also screen Studio Trigger and XFlag's original anime film Promare. The film's creative producer Hiromi Wakabayashi, character and mechanical designer Shigeto Koyama, and director Hiroyuki Imaishi will attend the screening.
