Hong Kong film distributor Neofilms began streaming a Chinese- and English-subtitled trailer on Friday for the live-action film of Rie Aruga's Perfect World manga. The video reveals the film's new opening date of November 1. Hong Kong film distributor Infinity previously announced that the film would open in October.
The film will open in Japan on October 5. Kenji Shibayama (Nagareboshi ga Kienai Uchi ni, Kimi no Suki na Uta) is directing the film, and Keiko Kanome (Time Slip Megane, Chibi Maruko-chan) is writing the script. Takefumi Haketa is composing the film's music.
The film stars Sandaime J Soul Brothers and Exile member Takanori Iwata (live-action Crows Explode film, right in visual right) as Itsuki Ayukawa, and Hana Sugisaki (live-action Blade of the Immortal film, left in visual right) will play Tsugumi Kawana.
Other cast members include Kenta Suga, Sei Ashina, Maggy, Kazue Itou, Mantaro Koichi, and Naomi Zaizen.
Kodansha Comics is publishing the manga in English digitally in North America, and it describes the story:
26-year-old Tsugumi Kawana reunites with her first crush from high school, Itsuki Ayukawa, at a get-together between an architecture firm and the interior design company she works at. He sends her heart aflutter, until she realizes he's now disabled, and in a wheelchair. At first she feels she couldn't date a guy in a wheelchair, but then her feelings begin to change …
Aruga launched the manga in Kiss magazine in February 2015. Kodansha published the manga's seventh compiled book volume on April 13.
