Kadokawa Games announced in a presentation on Wednesday that Langrisser I & II, extreme and Chara-Ani's compiled remake of Langrisser I and Langrisser II for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, will ship in Japan on February 7.
The remake will include new visuals, voice recordings, and user interface design. There will be a new heroine named Betty (pictured below, voiced by Hisako Tōjō), and both games will have multiple story routes. Composer Noriyuki Iwadare is returning to rearrange his original music with a mix of nostalgia and modernity.
First printings of the game's regular and limited editions will include a "classic mode" DLC that will use illustrations and background music from earlier releases of the game. The limited edition will come with production materials, a soundtrack CD, and box art (below) by original illustrator Satoshi Urushihara.
In addition, the presentation announced a Langrisser mobile game that will launch in Japan.
The franchise's official website announced the game on August 23 following a countdown.
Nippon Computer Systems software division Masaya released the first game in the series for the Mega Drive and PC in 1991, and it was also released in North America the same year under the title Warsong. The series went on to release four more main games, with Langrisser V: The End of Legend being released only in Japan in 1998 for the Sega Saturn. The games have been ported and remade on multiple occasions.
The latest entry in the series is Langrisser Re:Incarnation Tensei for the Nintendo 3DS, which shipped in Japan in July 2015, and in the West in April 2016.
