Terra Battle 2 Game's N. American Version Shuts Down in September
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
The official website of Mistwalker's Terra Battle 2 game announced on Sunday that the game's North American version will shut down on September 4 at 1:00 a.m. EDT. Mistwalker noted that it is shutting the game down due to being unable to "continue to offer the highest level of quality" to users. The game has also disabled in-game purchases of "Super Energy," and has been removed from the iOS and Android stores.
Terra Battle 2 launched in Japan and North America last September for iOS and Android, and also launched for the PC on the DMM Games website in Japan only. The original Terra Battle smartphone RPG launched in October 2014. The game has been downloaded more than 2.7 million times.
Silicon Studio (Bravely Default) developed Terra Battle 2 and Hironobu Sakaguchi is serving as producer. Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy) composed the music and Mistwalker's Kimihiko Fujisaka is the lead character designer. The game has the same core battle mechanics as the original Terra Battle RPG, but with redesigned gameplay and a new world map and story.
Sakaguchi introduced Terra Battle 2 alongside the Terra Wars game, both for iOS, Android, and PC. The games are part of his new "Terra World" franchise, which will have a similar numbering system to Final Fantasy. "Each installment of the 'Terra' franchise will have its disctinct feel, unique from any other," Sakaguchi wrote in a message on the Terra Battle 2 website. "I (secretly) wish to expand the "Terra World" and create 9 experiences. (As I have created 9 installments for the Final Fantasy series.)"
Like Terra Battle 2, Terra Wars is slated for iOS, Android, and PC release. A closed beta test for the game ran for the Android version of the game in May.
