posted on by Karen Ressler
Nintendo announced during its Treehouse Live special on Tuesday that it will release a Metroid II: Return of Samus remake titled Metroid: Samus Returns for Nintendo 3DS on September 15. The company revealed a trailer, which is also viewable in 3D on Nintendo 3DS via the eShop.
The game will have a special edition that includes a 25-track "Samus Archives" CD with songs from the franchise's history.
Nintendo will also release new amiibo figurines for Samus Aran and a Metroid. They will be compatible with Metroid: Samus Returns.
Nintendo released the original Metroid II: Return of Samus game for Game Boy in 1991 and ported it to Nintendo 3DS in 2011 via the Virtual Console.
A fan remake of Metroid II shut down last year after receiving a DMCA notice from Nintendo of America.
Nintendo also announced Metroid Prime 4 for Nintendo Switch on Tuesday.
