The Game Awards 2016 announced its list of winners at an awards ceremony in Los Angeles on Thursday, honoring the year's best video games. The winners include Niantic's Pokémon Go, Enhance Games' Rez Infinite, CAPCOM's Street Fighter V, and Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Pokémon Go won the categories of Best Family Game and Best Mobile/Handheld Game. Rez Infinite won Best VR Game, and Street Fighter V took home the award for Best Fighting Game. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which is releasing next year, received the award for Most Anticipated Game.
During the ceremony, game journalist Geoff Keighley presented game developer Hideo Kojima with the 2016 Industry Icon Award, highlighting last year's awards where Kojima could not receive the award for his Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain game due to his then-ongoing conflict and eventual departure from Konami.
This year's "Game of the Year" award went to Blizzard's Overwatch.
