The September issue of Kodansha's Magazine Special published the final chapter of Yuki Satō's Akechi Keibu no Jikenbo spinoff manga on Saturday. Kodansha will publish the manga's fifth and final compiled book volume on November 17.
The manga is a spinoff of Fumiya Sato and Seimaru Amagi's Kindaichi Shōnen no Jikenbo R manga, which is itself a sequel to their earlier Kindaichi Case Files manga. Yuki Satō's manga also serves as a sequel to Fumiya Sato and Amagi's Akechi Keishi no Yūganaru Jikenbo manga spinoff. Akechi Keibu no Jikenbo focuses on the character Kengo Akechi, an intelligent and elite police detective, and his partner, the rookie detective Ryūtarō Kobayashi. Together, they solve criminal investigations that come their way.
Sato launched the manga in Magazine Special in May 2014. Kodansha published the manga's fourth compiled book volume on March 17.
The manga received a television anime special titled The File of Young Kindaichi Returns: The File of Inspector Akechi last December. Kindaichi Shōnen no Jikenbo R received two television anime adaptations in 2014 and 2015. Crunchyroll streamed both seasons as they aired in Japan.
