Pokémon GO Game Now Available in Canada
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The official Twitter account for the Pokémon GO augmented reality smartphone app announced on Sunday that the app is now available on iOS and Android devices in Canada.
The app experienced server errors on Saturday, as the app launched in 26 additional countries. The CNN Money website reported on Saturday that a group called PoodleCorp claimed responsibility for the server crash. The game's Twitter account posted on Saturday that the app was experiencing server issues, but did not mention anything about an attack. Niantic stated later on Saturday that it identified and fixed the issues causing the server problems.
The Pokémon GO app launched in select countries on July 5, and has since launched in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. The company announced on Saturday that the app is now available in 26 additional countries, but not yet in Japan.
Niantic released an update for the iOS version of the app last week that removes the app's ability to request permission for full access to a user's Google account.
