Sabuibo Mask Live-Action Film Gets TV Anime Spinoff Shorts in May

The official website of the Sabuibo Mask live-action film announced on Thursday that the film will get a television anime spinoff titled Soreike! Sabuibo Mask. The series of one-minute anime shorts will premiere on Tokyo MX on May 6, and will air every Friday from at 9:55 p.m., with a total of eight episodes.
DLE Inc. (Eagle Talon) will produce the anime. The story will feature the film's main character, Sabuibo Mask, attempting to solve various problems in his rural town.
The Sabuibo Mask film stars Funky Katō, the former vocalist of Japanese hip-hop group FUNKY MONKEY BABYS. The story centers on Haruo (played by Katō), who attempts to bring life back to his hometown by wearing the luchador mask his wrestler father left him, going to the shopping district, standing on top of a cardboard box with a mamekara (handheld karaoke) machine, and singing cheering songs he wrote himself for the shop proprietors.
The film opens in Japan on June 11.
