Aniplex of America began streaming an English-subtitled trailer for the second season of The Asterisk War: The Academy City on the Water anime on Tuesday. The trailer is a subtitled version of the earlier promotional video, and previews Shiena Nishizawa's opening theme song "The Asterisk War."
The anime will premiere on Animax on April 2 at 10:30 p.m., and will also air on Tokyo MX, Tochigi TV, Gunma TV, BS11, ABC Asahi Broadcasting, and CBC TV. Aniplex of America will stream the second season of The Asterisk War on Crunchyroll starting on April 2 at 11:00 a.m. EDT, one hour after the show premieres in Japan. The series will also stream on the Aniplex Channel, Hulu, Funimation, and Daisuki websites one week after each episode's initial broadcast.
Haruka Chisuga will perform the ending theme song "Ai no Uta -words of love-."
Aniplex of America licensed the anime's first season, which aired in October-December. The series streamed on Daisuki, Crunchyroll, and Funimation.
The anime adapts Yuu Miyazaki and okiura's The Asterisk War: The Academy City on the Water (Gakusen Toshi Asterisk) light novel series. Miyazaki launched the novel series in 2012, and Media Factory published the ninth volume in September. The light novels have inspired a manga by Ningen, as well as the Gakusen Toshi Asterisk Gaiden: Queenveil no Tsubasa spinoff manga by Shō Akane.
The anime also inspired a PlayStation Vita game that shipped on January 28.
