Sentai Filmworks Licenses Knights of Sidonia Season 2

Sentai Filmworks announced on Tuesday that it has licensed Knights of Sidonia: Battle for Planet Nine, the second anime season based on Tsutomu Nihei's science-fiction manga. The company plans to release the series on Blu-ray and DVD.
The second series premiered on April 10 on the Animeism programming block, and in English on Netflix in July. Hiroyuki Seshita, the assistant director of the first season, replaced Kobun Shizuno as the director of the second season at POLYGON PICTURES, and Sadayuki Murai returned to be in charge of the series scripts.
The first TV anime season premiered in Japan last April and Netflix premiered the English version streaming in July. Sentai Filmworks released the series on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in June.
A compilation film of all 12 episodes of the first season opened in Japanese theaters on March 6. The film also contained new sequences and redone sound effects.
