Video game news source Famitsu revealed Rocket Company's new Nintendo 3DS game Medabots: Girls Mission (Medarot: Girls Mission) on Tuesday. The game will have two versions, Kabuto ver. and Kuwagata ver., both slated to ship on March 10 in Japan.
The cast of the game will be entirely female. The story takes place at the Medabots competition "Artemis Cup." The two versions will have different protagonists. Kabuto ver. will focus on Joyō Agricultural High School and Kuwagata ver. will focus on Teihō High school.
Rocket Company released Medarot 9: Kabuto ver./Kuwagata ver., the most recent games in the series, on December 24 for the Nintendo 3DS.
The first Medabot (Medarot) game inspired a television anime series by Bee Train in 1999, and a sequel series titled Medarot Tamashii (Medabot Spirits) in 2000. ADV licensed the series in North America, and Nelvana produced a dub for the first series, which aired in the Fox Kids network in 2001, before moving to ABC Family. Medabot Spirits aired on ABC Family in 2003.
