The official Twitter account for the upcoming Sekkō Boys anime project announced the release details and main cast for the series on Friday. The anime will premiere on Tokyo MX on January 8 at 11:00 p.m. The series will then air on BS11 on January 11 at 1:00 a.m.
The anime will star:
Tomokazu Sugita (Gintama's Gintoki, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya's Kyon) as Saint Giorgio
Shinnosuke Tachibana (Kamisama Kiss' Tomoe, Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches' Shinichi Tamaki) as Medici
Jun Fukuyama (Code Geass' Lelouch, Blue Exorcist's Yukio) as Hermes
Daisuke Ono (Durarara!!'s Shizuo, Black Butler's Sebastian) as Mars
In addition, Shiho Kokido (Brave Beats' Kotone, Go! Princess Precure's Aroma) will play the Sekkō Boys' manager Miki Ishimoto.
Kokido and director Tomoki Takuno will appear with the statues for a talkshow at the Tama Art University Art Festival on November 2. The staff will release the anime's key visual at this time. Zargiani Works will host a second talkshow at the event on November 3 at the Nihon University Art Department Art Festival and will unveil the first promotional video.
Sekkō Boys is a unit of four stone figures — the military saint and group leader Saint Giorgio, history's original celebrity Medici, the strikingly handsome and multi-talented Hermes, and the god of war Mars who is earnest about love — who become idiosyncratic idols. The story depicts their efforts to make it in the entertainment world with their female manager Miki Ishimoto, who just graduated from college.
The concept is the brainchild of the character goods maker Zargiani Works, media company Kadokawa, and art supplier Holbein Artist Materials. Tomoki Takuno (Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches) is directing the anime with assistant director Fumiaki Usui (Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches) at LIDEN FILMS. Michiko Yokote (Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches, Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE!) is supervising and writing the series scripts. Eriko Itō (Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches) is serving as character designer and chief animation director. "Sekkō Boys" are also credited with performing the anime's theme song.
