Kadokawa Games began streaming the second trailer on Thursday for its KanColle Kai PlayStation Vita game. The trailer reveals that the game has been delayed from November 26 to February 18, 2016. Kadokawa Games explained that since the company plans to add more volume to the game than originally planned, it needs the extra time to make adjustments to the final development. The company additionally announced that those who purchase the first edition of the game will get a new "Valentine Resource" clear file bundled with the game.
The Twitter account for the franchise additionally revealed that the Sony Store is offering a KanColle Kai-themed PlayStation Vita console. Pre-orders for the console start on Thursday at midnight (11:00 a.m. EDT). The console will include an original carved design, a download code for a theme, and an original sleeve. The console will not come bundled with the game itself.
The game has already experienced multiple delays. Kadokawa Games announced the game at the "Kadokawa Game Studio Media Briefing 2013 Autumn" event, and it was originally scheduled for a 2014 release.
The regular release will include a regular edition for 5,800 yen (about US$48) and a limited edition for 9,800 yen (US$82).
Kadokawa Games launched the original free-to-play browser game with the service provider DMM.com in April 2013. In the game, players compete with cards featuring female moe characters inspired by Japanese World War II warships such as aircraft carriers, battleships, and cruisers. Players build, organize, and repair their anthropomorphized fleet to progress through maps.
The original game inspired a television anime adaptation that premiered in January. The final episode of the television anime series had revealed in March that the television anime would get a sequel. The game is also inspiring an anime film that will open in 2016. The sequel and the anime film are separate projects that are going into production at the same time.
