Dengeki Online is reporting that Kadokawa Games is delaying the Kantai Collection Kai PlayStation Vita port of its free-to-play browser game until August 27. The game's official website still lists a May release and The Sony Store in Japan's exclusive special-edition PlayStation Vita portable system with an original Kantai Collection -Kan Colle- design etching also still lists a May release.
The release will include a regular edition for 5,800 yen (about US$48) and a limited edition for 9,800 yen (US$82). The Dengeki PlayStation magazine's March 26 issue will include more details about the limited edition benefits.
The company announced the game at the “Kadokawa Game Studio Media Briefing 2013 Autumn” event.
Kadokawa Games launched the original free-to-play browser game with the service provider DMM.com in April 2013. In the game, players compete with cards featuring female moe characters inspired by Japanese World War II warships such as aircraft carriers, battleships, and cruisers. Players build, organize, and repair their anthropomorphized fleet to progress through maps.
The original game is inspired a television anime adaptation. The anime premiered in January.
