Anime News Network confirmed with VIVA-PSICOM Publishing Corp. on Tuesday that it has postponed its planned launch event on June 6 and 7 for the Taglish (Tagalog-English) editions of Hiro Mashima's Fairy Tail manga and Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan manga. The publisher will still release the manga exclusively through the National Book Store chain on the original June 6 date.
Fairy Tail and Attack on Titan will be the first Japanese manga that VIVA-PSICOM will publish in the Philippines.
Mashima launched his Fairy Tail manga in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 2006. The manga follows the adventures of the world's most notorious mage guild, Fairy Tail. Kodansha published the manga's 49th volume in Japan last Friday. The manga series already inspired two television anime, several previous original video anime projects, and spinoff manga. The franchise's first anime film, Fairy Tail the Movie: Phoenix Priestess, opened in Japan on August 18, 2012. A second Fairy Tail film has been green-lit.
Hajime Isayama's manga depicts the battles between humans and the giants who now rule the world outside humans' walled enclaves. Isayama launched the series in Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in 2009, and the manga now has over 40 million copies in print. Kodansha published the manga's 16th volume on April 9. The manga inspired a 25-episode TV anime adaptation in 2013. Two-live action film adaptations directed by Shinji Higuchi will premiere in Japan on August 1 and September 19, and in the Philippines on August 12 and September 23.
