Eiji Karasuyama Ends Lesson of the Evil Manga in June

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Manga based on Yūsuke Kishi's dark crime novel launched in 2012

The cover of the June issue of Kodansha's Good! Afternoon magazine — which Kodansha revealed on Monday — announces that Eiji Karasuyama is ending his manga adaptation of Yūsuke Kishi's Aku no Kyōten (Lesson of the Evil) novel in the July issue. Kodansha will publish the July issue on June 6.

The manga's story centers around a Japanese high school teacher named Seiji Hasumi, an accomplished Harvard College graduate who is secretly a psychopath. He systematically begins murdering bullies and overbearing parents to solve these problems.

The manga adapts Kishi's 2010 dark crime novel of the same name. Karasuayama launched the manga adaptation in 2012. Kodansha will publish the manga's eighth volume on May 7.

Japanese film director Takashi Miike also adapted the novel into a live-action movie starring Hideaki Ito, which opened in Japan in November 2012.

Kishi also wrote and published his Shin Sekai Yori novel in 2008, which inspired the 2012 Shin Sekai Yori (From the New World) TV anime adaptation. Crunchyroll and The Anime Network both streamed the anime as it aired, and Sentai Filmworks released the anime on home video.
