posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Nintendo began streaming two trailers to show the interactive abilities of its amiibo figures with its Hyrule Warriors (Zelda Musō) and Mario Kart 8 Wii U games on Wednesday. When a Link amiibo figure is used with Hyrule Warriors, a new weapon becomes available.
Hyrule Warriors shipped in North America in September. Those who pre-ordered the game in North America at selected retailers received a free DLC costume pack such as Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, or Ocarina of Time.
The game shipped in Japan as Zelda Musō on August 14 in three versions: A normal version for 7,389 yen (about US$74); a premium box containing an official book of art and settings, a Triforce alarm clock, a set of three types of "Courage" in-game costumes, and a set of three "Wisdom" in-game costumes for 10,800 yen (about US$108); and a Treasure Box containing all of the contents of the premium box, as well as two in-game "Power" costumes," a real "Scarf of Courage," and a treasure box-styled jewelry box that makes sounds.
Zelda Musō ranked #2 on Media Create's video games sales ranking in its first week.
Players can use their amiibo figures in Mario Kart 8 to unlock costumes for their Mii characters. Nintendo's trailer gives a preview of some of the costumes.
Nintendo is also adding a two DLC packs for Mario Kart 8 with new vehicles, tracks, and characters. A second DLC pack is also planned.
Mario Kart 8 sold over 1.2 million copies during its launch weekend on May 30.
