Girls und Panzer character Yukari Akiyama (voiced by Ikumi Nakagami) narrates a television commercial that began streaming on Sunday to promote Brad Pitt's Fury film. The commercial is part of a collaboration between the action film and the military anime Girls und Panzer, Kantai Collection -Kan Colle-, and Strike Witches: Operation Victory Arrow.
Yukari: This is Girls und Panzer's Yukari Akiyama. Fury, a film with real Sherman and Tiger tanks, is finally about to open! Military anime collaboration advance tickets are on sale now!
Animate, Gamers!, and Shosen stores throughout Japan are selling special advance tickets for the film. People who purchase an advance ticket will receive one of three clear file folders with art from the collaborating anime. The clear files will bundle with the tickets for 1,400 yen (about US$13) each from November 1 to November 27, or until supplies run out.
Fury is set in April 1945, near the end of World War II. "Wardaddy" (Brad Pitt), the commander of the tank "Fury," leads his five-man unit on a desperate mission against the German army. To raise the authenticity of the film, the production used a real Sherman tank from the U.S. Army and a real German Tiger tank.
The film opened in the United States on October 17, and it will open in Japan on November 28.
