Edo-period manga follows sushi chef who heals people's spirits with sushi
Manga creator Etsushi Ogawa launched the new food manga Sushi Ichi! in the November issue of LEED Publishing's Comic Ran Twins magazine on Saturday.
Set in the Edo period, the gourmet manga follows the spirited sushi chef Taisuke. Not only does Taisuke make delicious food, but his food captures the hearts of the people and heals their spirit.
Ogawa has penned multiple food-focused manga series. His 1995 manga series Chūka Ichiban! (Cooking Master Boy) ran in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine until 1999. Pierrot adapted the manga into a 52-episode anime series in 1997. Ogawa's other manga include Jipangu Hououden, Tenshi no Frypan, and Astraia no Tenbin. He irregularly publishes chapters of Asakusabito with Masaharu Nabeshima in Nihon Bungeisha's Weekly Manga Goraku.
