Hiro Shimono, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, Yumi Uchiyama Join Ace of Diamond Cast

The official website for the anime adaptation of Yūji Terajima's Ace of Diamond baseball manga announced six more cast members on Wednesday:
- Hiro Shimono as Norifumi Kawakami
- Hiroki Touchi as Tesshin Kataoka
- Masakazu Morita as Kōchirō Tanba
- Nobuyuki Hiyama as Kyokuni Azuma
- Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Shinji Kanemaru
- Yumi Uchiyama as Rei Takashima
The story of the original manga follows eijun Sawamura (Ryota Ohsaka), a pitcher who joins an elite school with a brilliant catcher named Kazuya Miyuki (Takahiro Sakurai). Together with the rest of the team, they strive for Japan's storied Kōshien championships through hard work and determination.
Terajima launched the manga in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 2006, and Kodansha is publishing the 37th volume this month. The manga won the shōnen category of the 34th Kodansha Manga Awards in 2010.
Madhouse and Production I.G are producing the series. Mitsuyuki Masuhara (Blade, Kobato.) is directing, and Kenji Konuta (Library War, Blood Lad) is handling the series composition. Tom-H@ck (K-ON! opening theme composer) and Masayoshi Ōnishi will perform the anime's opening theme song, “Go EXCEED!!”
The anime will premiere in Japan on October 6.
