posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
TOHO began streaming a full trailer and second teaser video last Wednesday for the live-action film adaptation of Ryo Ikuemi's Kiyoku Yawaku shōjo manga. Both videos feature Kazuyoshi Saitō's (Detective Conan: Private Eye in the Distant Sea) theme song "Kagerō."
TOHO had previously streamed the film's first teaser video in June.
The film stars actress Masami Nagasawa (Crying Out Love, In the Center of the World, Gaku, Moteki, From Up On Poppy Hill) and actor Masaki Okada (Otomen, Space Brothers, Confessions). Nagasawa will play Kanna Seto, a woman still consumed by the loss of her childhood friend in an accident. Okada will play Roku Akazawa, a man dealing with his own guilt over an accident that resulted in the death of a female friend in elementary school. The film will also star Kengo Kōra as Kanna's childhood friend Haruta. Other cast members include Aoi Nakamura and Yūki Furukawa.
The film will open in Japan on October 26.
Ikuemi serialized the 13-volume manga in Shueisha's Cookie magazine from 2004 to 2010, and it won the Kodansha Manga Award for Best Shōjo Manga in 2009. The series is actually an omnibus series of story arcs; the film is adapting the Kanna arc. This year's November issue of Cookie will also publish an extra one-shot story for the manga on September 26.
