Seven Seas Licenses Zero's Familiar Chevalier Fantasy Sequel Manga
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
North American manga publisher Seven Seas Entertainment announced on Friday that it has licensed Noboru Yamaguchi and Yukari Higa's Zero's Familiar: Chevalier (Zero no Tsukaima Chevalier) sequel manga series. Seven Seas will release the series in four single volumes with the first volume shipping in mid-2014.
Higa began adapting Yamaguchi's light novel series in Media Factory's Monthly Comic Alive magazine in 2010, and the fourth and final volume shipped in Japan last month. Yamaguchi passed away in April after a two-year battle with cancer.
Seven Seas is currently releasing Nana Mochizuki's seven-volume Zero's Familiar prequel manga in three omnibus sets. The first omnibus volume shipped in North America last month. The light novels and manga follow a bumbling witch-in-training named Louise who mistakenly conjures a teenage boy named Saito from Earth. The two are then bound by magic to be master and servant.
Yamaguchi's light novels inspired four television anime series. Geneon Entertainment (USA) Inc. released the first anime series on DVD in North America. Later, Funimation acquired the rights after Geneon stopped distributing anime in North America. Sentai Filmworks will release the final season, Familiar of Zero F, in North America.
