Crunchyroll to Stream Encouragement of Climb, Mangirl
posted on by Egan Loo
Media service Crunchyroll announced on Thursday that it will stream the two television anime series Encouragement of Climb (Yama no Susume) and Mangirl! Both will begin streaming on January 2 at 1:00 p.m. EST, and both will be available in North America, South America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, United Kingdom, Ireland, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and the Netherlands.
Shiro's original Encouragement of Climb manga tells the story of childhood friends Aoi (a girl who prefers staying inside and who has acrophobia) and Hinata (a girl who loves mountains). The two decide to climb a mountain in order to once again see the Morning Sun from its peak as they did when they were young.
The cast includes Yuka Iguchi (Aoi), Kana Asumi (Hinata), Yui Ogura (Kokona), and Yōko Hikasa (Kaede). Yūsuke Yamamoto (Aquarion Evol, B Gata H Kei - Yamada’s First Time, Sgt. Frog) is directing and 8-Bit (Aquarion Evol, Infinite Stratos) will be responsible for animation production.
Kagari Tamaoka's four-panel manga four-panel manga Mangirl! follows the daily life of naive Editor-in-Chief Hana and "Japan's cutest manga editors" as they attempt to realize their dream of launching the #1 manga magazine — even though they have zero experience in actually editing manga.
Yasu (Joshiraku, Toradora!) created the original character designs for the manga. The studio Dogakobo (Yuruyuri, Koihime Musō, A Bridge to the Starry Skies) is producing the anime with director Nobuaki Nakanish.
