Saint Young Men Comedy Manga Gets Anime Film
posted on by Egan Loo
This year's 44th issue of Kodansha's Morning magazine is revealing on Thursday that an anime film adaptation of Hikaru Nakamura's Saint Young Men manga has been green-lit. The comedy story imagines if Buddha and Jesus shared a low-rent apartment in Tokyo.
Nakamura launched Saint Young Men in the sibling magazine Morning 2 in 2006, and Kodansha published the seventh book volume last October. That volume was the manga's fifth volume in the row to top Oricon's manga sales chart during its debut week. Along with Nakamura's other ongoing series Arakawa Under the Bridge, Saint Young Men briefly went on hiatus between last September and this past March due to her maternity leave.
Saint Young Men was nominated for the Best Comic award at this year's Angoulême International Comics Festival in France.
