Manga Investigating Technical Issues on Panty and Stocking DVD (Updated)
posted on by Andrew Osmond
Manga Entertainment has posted the following on its twitter feed regarding today's release of Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt on DVD:
We are investigating the technical issues that some of you are reporting on the Panty & Stocking DVD. We'll post an official reply in the next few days. We obviously do have a thorough QC [Quality Control] process for all releases, so this weekend's complaints have been a surprise for us. I apologise to any of you who have felt let down by the problems you've encountered with your DVDs. Manga Entertainment will act quickly and decisively to rectify the problem and to ensure our customers are satisfied. Once again, on behalf of Manga Entertainment please accept my apologies for any inconvenience that has been caused to you.
Manga UK did not cite a specific complaint with the discs. However, Andy Hanley of the fan website UK Anime Network made comments about the discs in tweets to Manga, and also in his review of the series on the website. In Hanley's review, he says that episodes eleven, twelve and thirteen of the series "all cut off before the episode actually finishes," with around twenty to thirty seconds missing in each case. Hanley also says that a "post-credits twist" on the final episode is cut almost entirely from the DVD.
Update - ANN UK has checked its own preview copy of Manga's DVD edition of Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt. Each of the final three episodes (11, 12 and 13) on the preview copy cuts off abruptly at the end, consistent with Andy Hanley's report.
