Arrietty Video Interview and Clip Online
posted on by Andrew Osmond
The British magazine SFX has posted two videos relating to Studio Ghibli's film Arrietty, which is due for release on DVD and Blu-ray on Monday January 9.
The first video is a 126-second interview with the British actor Mark Strong, who has appeared in such live-action films as Sherlock Holmes and Green Lantern. In Arrietty, Strong voices Pod, the father of the title heroine. In the interview, Strong describes Pod as "a very traditional, very manly guy who takes care of his family and, like a miner, on regular occasions has to go out into the big world and find stuff for his family to survive." (February's U.S. version of the film, called The Secret World of Arrietty, will have a different voice-cast, with Pod voiced by Will Arnett.)
The second video shows an 87-second clip from the film's opening scene, showing Arrietty hurrying to her miniature home under the floorboards of a human house. The music and singing is by French musician Cécile Corbel; Arrietty is voiced by Saoirse Ronan (The Lovely Bones); and Olivia Colman is heard at the end of the clip as Arrietty's mother Homily.
