GTO's Fujisawa to Launch New Manga in Young Magazine

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Fujisawa also launches Soul Reviver manga in Monthly Hero's mag in January

Manga creator Tohru Fujisawa (GTO, GTO: Shonan 14 Days) wrote on his blog on Friday that he will launch a new manga in Kodansha's Young Magazine starting in January. Fujisawa also posted a picture of the protagonist for the new series (pictured at right). Fujisawa did not mention the title of the new series.

Fujisawa will also launch a new title in Shogakukan's new Monthly Hero's magazine in January titled Soul Reviver. Fujisawa is handling the manga's scenario and original character design, and Manabu Akishige (D-ASH) is illustrating the manga. Soul Reviver revolves around a woman who is half human, half Shinigami and whose job is to accompany the souls of the dead to the world of the Shinigami.

Fujisawa launched a new series called Shibuya Hachikō-Mae -another side- (In Front of Shibuya Station's Hachikō Exit -another side) in the January issue of ASCII Media Works' digital magazine Dengeki Comic Japan on November 25. Akitsugu Mizumoto is illustrating that manga.

Tokyopop published Fujisawa's GTO in North America. In 2009, Fujisawa returned to the character of Onizuka with Shonan 14 Days. Vertical announced in May that it licensed both GTO: Shonan 14 Days and Shōnan Junai-gumi (the predecessor to Great Teacher Onizuka) for North America. Fujisawa just finished Shonan 14 Days this year, but he launched a three-chapter spinoff last month.
