posted on by Egan Loo
The anime licensing company Sentai Filmworks announced on Wednesday that it acquired the upcoming television anime series Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere. Weekly episodes will premiere digitally on The Anime Network on Tuesday, October 4 in Japanese with English subtitles. Additional digital outlets and home video releases will follow in 2012.
Produced by the anime studio Sunrise, Manabu Ono (My Hime, Saki) is directing the fantasy series. Tatsuhiko Urahata (NANA, Monster, Strike Witches 2) is supervising and adapting the script.
Based on the eight-book series by Minoru Kawakami, the story takes place when humans return to Earth and live in Japan. The country is divided into feudal territories, and various factions are fighting for power. Amidst the war, people must follow the Testament if they ever hope to return to the skies.
Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere begins airing on Japanese television on October 1. A television commercial for the war-themed series began airing last Wednesday. The series will ship for retail on Blu-ray Discs with English subtitles on December 22 in Japan.
