Ojamajo Doremi Gets Light Novel Sequel Set in High School
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Voice actress Chiemi Chiba revealed on Monday that the Ojamajo Doremi (Magical DoReMi) magical girl anime franchise will receive a light novel sequel set in high school. The Toei Animation franchise centers on a group of young witches led by Doremi Harukaze (voiced by Chiba), but the Ojamajo Doremi 16 light novel sequel will be the first story to feature the girls at high school age.
Japanese publisher Kodansha's website states that the new light novel will ship in Japan on December 2, although Chiba said that she already read a copy of the light novel's draft. Midori Kuriyama, a writer on the original anime, penned the light novel, and original character designer Yoshihiko Umakoshi illustrated it.
Shingeki no Kyojin: Before the Fall, a light novel adaptation of the recent hit manga series Shingeki no Kyojin, will also ship on December 2.
The first Ojamajo Doremi anime series originally premiered in Japan in 1999, and 4Kids began broadcasting the series in the United States in 2005.
