posted on by Egan Loo
The organizers of the New York Anime Festival (NYAF) announced on Thursday that they will host writer-director Makoto Shinkai as a guest during the October 13-16 convention in New York City. Shinkai started creating his own anime titles almost single-handedly, being responsible for the writing, directing, and even voice-acting.
Shinkai will present the New York premiere of his latest work, Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below, at the festival. Shinkai's other works include She and Her Cat, Voices of a Distant Star, The Place Promised in Our Early Days, and 5 Centimeters Per Second.
Crunchyroll is sponsoring Shinkai's appearance with travel provided by American Airlines. NYAF is also hosting voice actress Junko Takeuchi and manga author Hiro Mashima. NYAF is part of New York Comic Con, which is hosting Kevin Smith, Felicia Day, Robert Kirkman, and other guests during the same time.
