Awesome!!
I just saw him at Otakon this past weekend. He's a really nice person. It'll be great to see him again at Comic Con. ^^

I heard he did a signing, and I was wondering what kind of stuff were people giving him to sign? I mean I have all the dvd's by him but I don't really think there is anything to sign on those.

I bought a new copy of 5 Centimeters Per Second from the Bandai booth. If you bought it from them, they gave you a ticket that ensured that you got an autograph from Shinkai which was much better then the disaster that is the rest of their autograph sessions. The new version of the DVD has a much lighter color than the original ADV version so there it's a lot easier to see when he signs it.

He was an incredibly nice person. He took the time to learn every persons name so that he could personalize your autograph and had no problem chatting it up for a minute or two despite the line of people behind you. Good thing I got one of those tickets haha.

Well I think if I go I might buy a new bandai copy and get both signed then. I want my ADV one signed too though, it has imo the better dub.

There's a remote, outside chance that I might be able to attend this. I probably won't, but before I hadn't original even considered it. There's something that I find rather intriguing about Makoto Shinkai. He might be an interesting man to meet and I would like to see this new film of his.

His first appearances in the United States, so far as I am aware, are east coast conventions in one year. There must be something that he likes about it enough to tolerate the at least thirteen hour flights.
