Crunchyroll to Simulcast Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi (Updated)
posted on by Gia Manry
The media distribution site Crunchyroll announced on its forums on Thursday that it will simulcast the TV anime adaptation of Shungiku Nakamura's boys-love manga Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi. The series will be available to premium members after its Japanese broadcast in the following regions: North America, South America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Netherlands, Portugal, Middle East, Africa, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, and Indonesia. Free users in the same regions will have access to episodes one week after their initial launch on the site.
Dates and times for the simulcast have not yet been announced. The series is currently scheduled to premiere at 25:05 a.m. on April 8 (effectively 1:05 a.m. on April 9) in Japan.
The story follows the tension between a newly recruited manga editor and his tyrannical editor-in-chief — who happen to share a common past. The March 2010 issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Ciel magazine announced the TV anime adaptation; this past July, a solicitation revealed that the manga's limited edition fifth volume would be bundled with an original anime DVD.
Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi is one of several series revealed by Crunchyroll's application for the iPhone and iPad devices, under the program's "Manage Notifications" feature.
Update: Added background information and image.
