Gonzo Studio Makes Nyanpire TV Anime for 2011
posted on by Egan Loo
The anime studio Gonzo is producing its first new television series in two years with Nyanpire The Animation, a 2011 adaptation of yukiusa's popular the Gothic World of Nyanpire dōjinshi about a vampire cat.
The story follows a black cat who was abandoned and left to starve. Just before the cat's life was to be extinguished, a vampire emerged from the darkness and gave it blood. Now, "Nyanpire" (a combination of the Japanese pronunciations for a cat's meow and "vampire") lives as a seemingly ordinary house cat raised by a human girl.
Takahiro Yoshimatsu — the character designer of Trigun, Future GPX Cyber Formula, and Supernatural the Animation — is serving as the director and character designer of the new project. Natsuko Takahashi (07-Ghost, Kaasan - Mom's Life, Moyashimon, live-action Ōoku, Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan) is supervising the scripts. The cast has yet to be announced.
Since yukiusa launched the dōjinshi just a year and a half ago in 2009, the Nyanpire franchise has sold 3 million character goods.
