Crunchyroll to Simulcast Lilpri Magical Girl Anime
posted on by Egan Loo
The Crunchyroll media-distribution website has announced on Friday that it will simulcast TMS Entertainment's television anime adaptation of Sega's Lilpri magical girl trading card game. The simulcast will start with episode 9 on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. PDT.
The story of Hime Chen! Otogi Chikku Idol Lilpri centers on Ringo Yukimori (Ayaka Wada), Leila Takashiro (Yuuka Maeda), and Natsuki Sasahara (Kanon Fukuda) — three elementary school girls who can change into idol princesses. (The three main voice actresses are members of Hello! Project's S/mileage idol singer group.) The manga creator Mai Jinna (Hoshi Made Gofun!, Otome Road) designed the characters on Sega's cards and has also been drawing the manga version in Shogakukan's Pucchigumi and Shōgaku Ichinensei magazines since last year.
Crunchyroll's simulcast will be available to Premium Subscription members in high definition one hour after each episode's first airing on Japan's TV Tokyo station, and for free in standard definition one week later. The simulcast will be available in the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. The anime premiered on April 4 in Japan, and Crunchyroll will stream the first three episodes on Saturday. Episodes #5 through #8 will be available "soon thereafter."
