Manga UK Indicates Eva: 2.0, Eden of the East Film Plans (Updated)
posted on by Egan Loo
The British anime distributor Manga Entertainment has indicated on its Twitter account this week that it plans to release Hideaki Anno's Evangelion: 2.0 You Can [Not] Advance (Evangelion Shin Gekijōban: Ha) film and Kenji Kamiyama's three Eden of the East films in the United Kingdom. Evangelion: 2.0 is the second film in Khara's four-part theatrical remake of Gainax's Neon Genesis Evangelion series. The first Eden of the East film (Higashi no Eden Sōshū-hen Air Communication) condenses the Eden of the East television series, while the last two films (The King of Eden and Paradise Lost) gives the franchise its story finale.
According to Manga Entertainment, the date of its Evangelion 2.0 release has yet to be confirmed, and it is "relying on Funimation to announce dates, dubbing, etc…." Manga Entertainment also said that it does not know which version of Evangelion: 2.0 it will release, and it does not know if "it should just wait until [the] Blu-ray version is ready." In Japan, there is only the original 2.0 theatrical version and the extended 2.22 DVD and Blu-ray version, which will ship on May 26.
Funimation had licensed Evangelion: 1.0 You Are [Not] Alone (Evangelion Shin Gekijōban: Jo) and the three Eden of the East films, but has not announced plans for Evangelion 2.0. ANN has asked Funimation to comment on Manga Entertainment's statements.
