Windows 7 Anime Ad with Nana Mizuki Put on Bonus DVD
posted on by Egan Loo
Update: Build-it-yourself personal computer shops in Tokyo have begun showing the "Nanami Madobe's Windows 7 Build-It-Yourself PC Commercial!!" with Japan's Windows 7 mascot character, and the shops will be offering the commercial on a bonus DVD. Prolific voice actress and singer Nana Mizuki has been voicing the character since the mascot debuted last year as a bonus customization theme for Japanese premium sets of the Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Edition operating system.
In the 70-second ad, Nanami Madobe is a part-type PC parts shop worker who showcases a cube-type PC kit running Windows 7. Mizuki reprises her Nanami Madobe role, while Daisuke Namikawa plays the shop's manager. The T-Zone PC DIY Shop, Sofmap Reuse store, Faith's main store, and Twotop's main store are among the stores in Tokyo's Akihabara shopping district that are showing the commercial. While the anime commercial is not for sale, it is being offered on a limited number of bonus DVDs to people who purchase the DSP (Delivery Service Partner) versions of Windows 7.
Keiichiro Kawaguchi (Moetan, Nyan Koi!, Zettai Karen Children) served as director, animation director, and storyboarder on the commercial. Satoshi Yamaguchi (Blood+, Noein - to your other self) designed and animated the characters based on Wakaba's original character design. Syuji Uemura (Princess Resurrection, Strawberry Panic!) oversaw the project's color key.
