Not-So-Daily Link of the Day: The Korean fantasy massively multi-player online role-playing game (MMORPG) MapleStory announced on Wednesday that it will feature an official Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood tie-in campaign in Japan. For a limited time starting on March 31, MapleStory will offer Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood tie-in items such as character costumes, weapons, and items of popular characters, as well as items related to the series such as the Armstrong family treasure. The second phase of the campaign will run from April 26 to May 26.
Players can find these items randomly inside Gashapon vending machines within the game and at "point shops." There will also be a special MapleStory item coupon bundled with the ninth DVD and Blu-Ray volume of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood on April 21. The coupon can be redeemed for more Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood items.
In 2007, the Madhouse anime studio produced a 25-episode animated television adaptation of MapleStory, starring Aya Endō, Houko Kuwashima and Daisuke Namikawa. Bones' Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood anime series has been airing in Japan since last April, and Funimation is releasing it in North America online, on television, and eventually on home video. Viz Media will publish the 23rd volume of Hiromu Arakawa's original Fullmetal Alchemist manga in July.
