Cirque du Freak's Arai Launches Arago Police Manga
posted on by Egan Loo
Cirque du Freak manga artist Takahiro Arai has launched a new manga called Arago ~London Shikei Tokushu Hanzai Sōsakan~ (Arago: City of London Police's Special Crimes Investigator) in next year's combined 4th/5th issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine on Tuesday.
The story centers around two twins, Arago and Yūan, whose parents were slaughtered by monsters. Years later, the vengeful Arago crosses paths with Yūan, who has since become a police officer, just as blood begins to flow again in the streets of London.
Arai drew the manga adaptation of British author Darren Shan's Cirque du Freak novels in the same Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine from 2006 to beginning of 2009. Yen Press will publish the fourth of the manga's 12 compiled book volumes in North America next month. Arago begins one month before the live-action Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant film opens in Japan in January, and the current Weekly Shonen Sunday issues carries an article on the film.
