Japanese Animation DVD Ranking, July 6-12

Oricon reports that Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea is the third film by director Hayao Miyazaki to top the DVD sales charts for two weeks in a row; the other two were Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (released on DVD on November 19, 2003) and Spirited Away (July 19, 2002). Ponyo is also the eighth anime DVD to top 600,000 copies in sales. The Blu-ray Disc release of Hisaishi Joe in Budokan ~Miyazaki Anime to Tomo ni Arunda 25-nenkan, the 25th anniversary concert of Miyasaki's longtime composer Joe Hisaishi, dipped from #5 to #7 on the Blu-ray Disc chart.
The ninth volume of the live-action special-effects series Ultra Seven sold 2,587 copies in its first week at #24. The DVD of the Kirarin Revolution Final Stage event debuted at #27 with 2,418 copies sold.
