Crunchyroll Adds Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (Updated)
posted on by Egan Loo
25 English-subbed, dubbed episodes available for free on website
The Crunchyroll website has announced that it has begun streaming Sunrise's Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion anime series on Wednesday. The 25 English-subtitled and English-dubbed episodes are available for free on the website to viewers in the United States and Canada now. The North American anime distributor Bandai Entertainment has already been streaming the anime on Google's YouTube service.
The new move represents a change in Bandai's stance on Crunchyroll; in March of 2008, Bandai Entertainment issued a statement to express "concerns over copyright infringement" at Crunchyroll. The Japanese broadcaster TV Tokyo revealed during its announcement of Naruto Shippūden's English-subtitled simulcast in November that Crunchyroll would stop accepting user-submitted videos and other content from individuals, and only host videos approved by copyright holders in January.
