Detroit Metal City Cameos in Street Fighter Online (Updated)
posted on by Egan Loo
Not-So-Daily Link of the Day: The Japanese software developer Daletto has added the Johannes Krauser II character from Kiminori Wakasugi's Detroit Metal City rock parody manga to its Street Fighter Online: Mouse Generation fighting action game in Japan on Friday. The character is available for players to use as an avatar, and one of his special fighting moves is "Akuma-Tama," in which Krauser expels a sphere of phlegm. The game already features the 009 and 004 characters, both originally hailing from Shōtarō Ishinomori's Cyborg 009 science fiction adventure manga and anime.
The Detroit Metal City manga follows a mild-mannered light pop singer who becomes the in-your-face lead singer of a death metal rock band in the mold of KISS. Viz Media will launch the manga in North America this June. Director Toshio Li and actor Ken'ichi Matsuyama (Death Note, NANA) adapted the story into a live-action film last year, while Satelight produced an animated video.
