Wired Reports on Japanese Web, 2ch BBS, Nico Nico Douga
posted on by Egan Loo
The Wired technology magazine's current issue reports on popular Japanese websites and their symbiosis with the otaku culture. In particular, the main feature centers on an interview with Hiroyuki Nishimura, the creator of Japan's most popular bulletin board system (2ch) and a driving force behind Japan's most popular video-sharing service (Nico Nico Douga, pictured at right). There also articles about 12 2ch mascots that are "drawn" entirely with text characters, other popular Japanese websites, and American fans of Japanese websites.
