Susan Sarandon and John Goodman Lined up for Speed Racer

Associated Content reports that Susan Sarandon and John Goodman are currently in negotiations to play the parts of Speed Racer's parents in the upcoming live-action Speed Racer movie.
Emile Hirsch, the 22-year-old star of Lords of Dogtown and The Girl Next Door, was recently cast as titular character-Speed Racer.
The directors, Andy and Larry Wachowski are currently looking for actors to play Speed's girlfriend, Trixie, and his nemesis, Racer X. Last June, it was reported that Vince Vaughn, who had previously been attached to the project as a producer, was still likely to play the role of Racer X in the Wachowski directed movie.
Filming is set to start on Speed Racer this summer in Germany, with the movie due to be released on May 9, 2008. It will be the first Wachowski directed movie since the Matrix trilogy, although the brothers did produce V for Vendetta.
